Our Partner: Valencia Basket

Valencia Basket is one of Spain's most successful professional basketball clubs, with a world-class youth academy that has produced players competing at the highest levels in Europe. Their coaches are experienced in working with young athletes from a wide range of backgrounds and skill levels — from beginners developing their fundamentals to competitive players pushing toward elite performance.

Training alongside a club of this calibre is a rare opportunity. Valencia Basket's approach to player development emphasises technical skill, basketball IQ, and the mental side of the game. Your child will be challenged, supported, and exposed to a style of coaching that is simply not available in a weekly session at home.

This is our second camp in Valencia. The experience we had on our first trip — the quality of training, the professionalism of the staff, the warmth of the welcome — is what brought us back. We are confident this camp will be even better.

Why This Experience Matters

Youth basketball in the UK is growing fast. The players who will stand out in the coming years are those who develop not just technique, but character — the ability to compete under pressure, adapt to new environments, and perform alongside people they have just met.

An international camp does all of this. It takes players out of their comfort zone in the best possible way. They train harder than they expect, they make friendships that last, and they come home with a confidence you can see on and off the court.

For players aged 12–16, this is also the prime development window. The habits, skills, and mindset built during these years stay with them. A week training with Valencia Basket coaches is the kind of investment that pays dividends for years.

All levels are welcome. Whether your child has been playing for six months or six years, the programme is structured to challenge and develop every player in the group.

Frequently Asked Questions

What level does my child need to be?

All levels are welcome. The camp is designed for players aged 12–16 across all ability levels. Our coaching staff — both from Dulwich Sharks and Valencia Basket — will structure sessions so that every player is working at the right level and making real progress.

Is this the right camp for a beginner?

Yes. If your child has a basic understanding of the game and is enthusiastic about learning, they are ready for this camp. The environment is encouraging, supportive, and designed to build confidence.

What supervision is provided?

Dulwich Sharks coaches travel with the group for the full duration of the trip. Players are supervised at all times — at training, during meals, at the accommodation, and on cultural activities. We take the safety and wellbeing of every player seriously.

Has Dulwich Sharks run international camps before?

Yes. We have previously run camps in Valencia, Spain, and Bursa, Turkey. International camps are an established part of what we do at Dulwich Sharks, and each one has been a standout experience for the players and families involved.
